THE IRISH DANCE COACH

The unbelievable artistry and athleticism of today’s Irish dancers as they leap effortlessly into the air rivals that of any athlete. The athletic nature of our ever evolving dance involves a series of complex and powerful movements such as birdies, high kicks, front clicks, jumps, spins and leaps performed at a heart rate of up to 180bpm.

Dancers participate in rigorous dance training, practicing up to 20 hours a week to perfect technique, skill and increase stamina in order to achieve their very best performance, like any athlete training for the Olympics. Incorporating strength training into their weekly routine as well as looking after their bodies with appropriate fuelling and recovery strategies is necessary for an Irish dancer to consistently perform to their best and to help prevent injuries during their career.

I created The Irish Dance Coach to bring my vast array of experience and expertise with developing athletes to the Irish dance world. As a qualified strength and conditioning coach, nutritionist and sports therapist, my aim is to bring my health and fitness knowledge to the Irish dance world with the aim of giving dancers a long and prosperous career in dance. As a professional dancer myself I understand the unique needs of dancers both physically and mentally. This allows me to coach dancers in the way that they understand, while applying the academic knowledge from my science and nutrition studies.
